I do enjoy watching a couple of the guys go through the routine, usually if there is a question mark or if someone is returning from injury and you want to gauge their recovery. The rest seems a bit goofy, but I am entertained when someone does really well or really poorly (usually doesn’t matter why, it’s all about the numbers, yo), and then we get to watch the analysts and everyone else throw out the 3-4 years of game film they have on a guy, simply because of how he performed on play-day (speaking of which, I think the 3-legged race should be a combine event). Goofballs.As I write this, I’m looking forward to waking up at 4 am so I can get to the airport for a 6 am flight. That flight will take me east about 400 miles to Minneapolis so that I can then fly back to the west (passing almost directly over my departure) about 1600 miles. The inefficiency bugs me...... a lot, but so does the thought that Minny may not be open due to the snow storm. Although, I hear that tomorrow’s snow won’t be nearly as heavy as what will be there on Friday and Saturday. I fly back on Friday, but I believe we fly through Denver, which is much more of a logical route, so hopefully I can get back home. I haven’t been back to Seattle since I lived there in the early/mid 90s, so it’ll be fun to see my old stomping grounds. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have hit their familiar stride on defense during the second half of the season, after some uncharacteristic earlier struggles.There’s been no better example of this lately than Anthony Barr.“He’s always been a good player,” coach Mike Zimmer said. “I think he’s probably taking it to another level right now.”Barr had two of the team’s nine sacks in the 41-17 victory over Miami last week , some obvious evidence of his value. The fifth-year outside linebacker, playing on an expiring contract, has often made an impact for the Vikings in ways that have stretched beyond basic statistics.The fact that he was picked for a fourth straight Pro Bowl, joining defensive end Danielle Hunter and safety Harrison Smith from the defense, with only 13½ career sacks is a good place to start.“I do what I’m asked to do. I think everybody gets caught up in numbers and stats and all that.
